HOUSTON – The lights turned out for thousands of power customers as overnight thunderstorms rumbled through Southeast Texas. Hail between 1″ to 1.25″ feel across the Houston area. Wind gusts between 40 to 50 mph also blew threw. In fact, a tree fell over in Bunker Hill, taking down some powerlines with it.
Centerpoint said they received several reports of downed wires. They said please assume all lines are energized and dangerous. The power company said everyone needs to stay at least 35 feet away from powerlines on the tround stating that you should never attempt to remove tree limbs or any object from power lines. Instead, call them immediately at 713-207-2222.

As of 9 a.m., Centerpoint Energy reported 25,931 customers affected by outages. At the height of the outages, 114,820 customers were not getting electricity.
